Consumer Education on Cybersecurity
NatCA plays a central role in advancing consumer cybersecurity awareness in Sierra Leone, aligning its efforts with the National Cybersecurity Strategy (2021–2025). This strategy identifies public education as a cornerstone of digital resilience.
Public Awareness Campaigns
NatCA collaborates with the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) to deliver cybersecurity education via radio, television, newspapers, and social media. Focus areas include phishing prevention, safe mobile money practices, and data privacy—especially targeting youth and rural communities.
Community Outreach & Training
Through local workshops and school programs, NatCA promotes basic cybersecurity hygiene—strong passwords, safe browsing, and incident reporting—with special emphasis on child online protection, in line with ITU guidelines.
Consumer Protection Framework
NatCA enforces regulations requiring telecom operators to provide clear cybersecurity advisories and incident reporting channels. It also mandates NIN-SIM registration to combat identity fraud and strengthen digital accountability.
Strategic Integration
All initiatives are embedded within Sierra Leone’s National Digital Development Policy and Strategy, which prioritizes:
- Digital literacy for all citizens
- Protection of critical infrastructure
- Multi-stakeholder collaboration across government, civil society, and the private sector
