Regulations

Pursuant to Section 82 of the Telecommunications Act of 2006, as amended, the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) was at the time mandated by statutory instrument to make regulations for the effective implementation of the Act.

In fulfillment of this mandate, NATCOM undertook the drafting of regulations in 2019 aimed at strengthening transparency, certainty, and fairness in the regulation of operators and in the delivery of telecommunications services to the public.

As part of this process, NATCOM developed five (5) additional secondary legislations in 2019, which were subsequently ratified by the House of Parliament in 2020, in accordance with the law.

To ensure inclusivity and sector-wide legitimacy, the Commission engaged the public, inviting comments, suggestions, and recommendations on the draft regulations. The ratified regulations that were presented for public consultation included:
